Paul Pogba, one of the most prominent Juventus and at the same time France national football squad players, will be included in the World Cup squad “only if he is fully fit”, according to France coach Didier Deschamps.
In defiance of Juventus, he underwent meniscus surgery last week after a month of conservative treatment.
After announcing the schedule for the Blues’ next two Nations League games, Deschamps said: “He won’t be joining us just for fun.” The list includes Adrien Rabiot, a teammate of Pogba from Juventus, as well as Milan talents Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud. “It would be useless if he hadn’t played before and wasn’t completely healthy. He would oppose it too.
Deschamps declined to comment on the family drama in which Mathias Pogba was arrested in connection with an extortion case.
The recovery time of the Juventus football star is still unknown, but Massimiliano Allegri recently said that Pogba will not be available for the team until January 2023.
In August, Juventus advised Pogba to have surgery immediately, but the midfielder balked after trying more conservative therapy that ultimately proved unsuccessful.
The athlete underwent surgery while trying everything to avoid it after sustaining a meniscus injury during pre-season training. He tried conservative therapy for five weeks, according to the Bianconeri, but eventually had to give up, realizing surgery was the only option.
Pogba thanked supporters in a video message posted on Instagram that was simultaneously in French and Italian. He also hinted at the move to investigate extortion attempts that also implicate his brother Mathias.
It’s unclear how long he’ll be out of it, but it seems unlikely he’ll recover in time to represent France at the World Cup.
France in the competition
At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the French will try to defend their title and become the first football team to do so since Brazil won the competition in 1958 and 1962.
Stars like Paul Pogba, Hugo Lloris, Aurelien Tchouameni, Kylian Mbappe and more are set to once again compete on the international stage in a bid to lead the Blues to back-to-back wins.
In group D, France will be reunited with old football friends. In 2018, they beat Australia and Denmark in a group match before winning the competition in Russia. Tunisia also joined them this year, but they still believe history will repeat itself and lead them to glory.
Key squad figures
Some of the most famous players in football are part of the France national team. Kylian Mbappé, who emerged from Russia and scored the goals that gave them the league four years ago, is currently the subject of more conversation than anyone.
“I think that Kylian Mbappé showed his ability to put on remarkable performances from the beginning of his career. Several years ago, at the time of the 2018 World Cup, Pelé personally congratulated him. The World Cup and the Champions League are events that everyone loves to watch. reports Florent Torchut for L’Equipe.
Along with other famous personalities like Paul Pogba, Karim Benzema and N’golo Kante, France has more than enough talent to win the tournament again.
